Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation apparatus capable of avoiding erroneous detection of the home position of a carriage, shortening detection time, and shortening elevation time of a head unit within the carriage.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus includes: a carriage 5 including image forming means for forming an image on a recording medium; a guide member 3 for guiding the carriage in a main scan direction; an elevation shaft 30 adjusting a height of the image forming means; and an elevation mechanism for driving the elevation shaft to rotate. The elevation mechanism includes: coupling means 23 engaged with the elevation shaft; drive means 22 for driving the coupling means to rotate; detection means for detecting whether the coupling means is engaged with the elevation shaft by detecting a pressing amount of the coupling means when the elevation shaft contacts the coupling means from a voltage value; and calculating means for calculating an angle for rotating the coupling means so as to engage the elevation shaft with the coupling means. The coupling means 23 has a front surface having a maximum pressing amount; a back surface engaged with the elevation shaft; and a transitional part extending between the front surface and the back surface.
