A reversing transfer member 50 includes a first reversing transfer route for transferring a recording material S along a first reversing transfer direction FD21 and a second reversing transfer route for transferring a recording material S along a second reversing transfer direction FD22, wherein each route serves as a reversing transfer route for reversing the front and back. In this case, a paper feed controller selects either of the first reversing transfer route and the second reversing transfer route according to the species of the recording material S.
