Abstract:

To provide an image forming apparatus that is excellent in electrical characteristics and wear resistance of an inorganic protective layer in an electrophotographic photoreceptor.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an electrophotographic photoreceptor that has in this order a conductive substrate, a photosensitive layer, and an inorganic protective layer including a metal element M, oxygen O, and hydrogen H, wherein the element component ratio of the oxygen O to the metal element M (oxygen O/metal element M) in a layer forming a surface of the inorganic protective layer is 1.3 or more and 1.5 or less; an electrifying device having an electrifying member of a contact system that electrifies a surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor, and an AC voltage application unit that applies AC voltage to the electrifying member of a contact system; an electrostatic charge image forming device that forms an electrostatic charge image on the electrified surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor; a developing device that supplies electrostatic charge image developer to develop the electrostatic charge image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor as a toner image; and a transfer device that transfers the toner image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor to a surface of a recording medium.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
