To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus capable of saddle-stitched printing without restricting the number of manuscript sheets even when an image memory capacity provided therein.
In an image forming apparatus 1 such as a copying machine, when an insufficient capacity is left in an image memory 15 for storing image data of the entire manuscript, an image is formed on a sheet by producing a page layout by counting the number of manuscript sheets, and by storing into a memory the sets of image data in which the image data entirely become complete set. After deleting the image data having formed the image, the following image forming processing is repeated. An image data having not formed an image is stored into the memory, and the image is formed on a sheet.
