To provide an image forming method for a silver halide photographic sensitive material by which development is accelerated and an evil influence is hardly exerted on the environment by carrying out development in the presence of a specified compound.
A silver halide photographic sensitive material with at least one photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer on the substrate is developed in the presence of a compound of formula I or II. In the formulae I and II, R1 is H, an alkyl, aryl, hydroxy, amino, thiol, alkoxy or thio-ether and R2 and R3 may be mutually the same or different and are each H or a 1-4 substitutable group. The amount of the compound added is 1×10-6-1×10-2 mol, preferably 5×10--5×10-3 mol, further preferably 1×10-5-1×10-3 mol per 1 mol silver.
