To provide a serial tandem type image forming system consisting of a plurality of image forming apparatuses, in which a downtime of the system is reduced by performing a double-sided printing job as quick as possible while avoiding an influence caused by an operation of adjusting the image forming apparatuses.
An image forming system is a serial tandem type image forming system, in which each of an upstream machine 200 and a downstream machine 300 is configured to form images on both sides of a sheet. A controller of the system is configured to, when performing a double-sided printing job, in the state in which an adjusting operation is performed in one of the upstream machine 200 and the downstream machine 300, perform the double-sided printing job by operating only the other image forming apparatus in which the adjusting operation is not performed, and after ending the adjusting operation of one image forming apparatus, a mode is shifted to a mode (tandem mode) of performing the double-sided printing job in a series.
