To prevent uneven streaks while reducing instability of landing positions of droplets.
In an image recording apparatus 1, only small-sized ink droplets are ejected toward a recording medium 9 in a range of gray scale values less than a second gray scale value (64). In a range of gray scale values greater than or equal to the second gray scale value and less than a first gray scale value (115), large-sized and small-sized droplets are ejected toward the recording medium 9, so that a total ejection rate of the large-sized and small-sized droplets gradually increases according to increase of the gray scale value, and a ratio of the ejection rate of the large-sized droplets in the total ejection rate gradually increases. The first gray scale value is less than or equal to a 50% gray scale value (128) located in the middle between the minimum gray scale value and the maximum gray scale value, and the total ejection rate at the first gray scale value is less than 50%. In a range of gray scale values greater than or equal to the first gray scale value, only large-sized droplets are ejected toward the recording medium 9. The uneven streaks can be prevented while reducing instability of the landing positions of microdroplets of ink.
