Abstract:

To prevent a decrease in picture quality due to the sticking of discharge products on the surface of a photoreceptor by dehumidifying the circumference of an electrostatic charger and then reducing the amount of discharge products.

The image forming unit equipped with an image process part 6 having the photoreceptor 11 and an electrostatic charger 12 facing the outer circumferential surface of the photoreceptor 11 is provided with a dehumidifying means 9 which dehumidifies the circumference of the electrostatic charger 12. The circumference of the electrostatic charger 12 is dehumidified to reduce the amount of discharge products when the surface of the photoreceptor 11 is electrostatically discharged and the decrease in picture quality due to the sticking of the discharge product on the surface of the photoreceptor 11 can be prevented.
