The amount of characteristic is extracted by analyzing image data and first correction is performed by a correction amount (first correction amount) determined according to the amount of characteristic. Next, an amount of characteristic after correction is approximated, after that, a correction amount of second correction is determined according to the approximated amount of characteristic after the correction by converting the amount of characteristic using an approximate expression according to the first correction amount. Thus, since the correction amount is determined by approximating the correction amount after the correction even when a plurality of kinds of corrections are performed, the appropriate correction amount is quickly determined to quickly correct the image data and as a result, a high quality image is quickly output.
