PURPOSE: To record an image and sound in spite of using a photosensitive recording medium having only a photosensitive recording function by separately recording the sound in a recording means such as a semiconductor memory while recording consecutive still images on the photosensitive recording medium.

CONSTITUTION: By opening an optical shutter 10 in timing when an intermittent moving part 8a is still and moving the intermittent moving part 8a in timing when the optical shutter 10 is closed, still images to be picked up is successively exposed on respective frames 19.... On the other hand, developing and fixing solution permeates in each photosensitive layer of the photosensitive recording medium 8, and each photosensitive layer generates absorption spectrum where different wavelength is set as a peak in a developing and fixing unit 20. The sound in surrounding environment in the midst of image pickup is detected by a microphone and converted into an electrical signal. The electrical signal is converted into a digital signal and temporarily stored in a buffer memory. Then, it is read out, data-compressed and stored in the buffer memory again, then it is read out and recorded in the semiconductor memory.
