Three hierarchy data consisting of images 156, 158, and 160 are objects to be displayed. Link information is set in an area 162 in the image 156 and an area 163 in the image 158, and the link information is also set in an area 164 in the image 156 and an area 165 in the image 160. When a display image overlaps with the area 162 due to a user's request to move the display image during production of the display image using the hierarchy data of the image 156, hierarchy data used for display is switched from the image 156 to the image 158, and the area 163 in the image 158 is used as a display image (arrow A). Thereafter, the display image is reduced in the image 158. When this display image is superposed on the link area 163 again, the hierarchy data used for display is switched from the image 158 to the image 156, and the area 162 in the image 156 is used as a display image (arrow B).
