Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to set a film original to an image reader without annoying works by allowing an original-carrying means to carry a film original up to an image read position of the image read means, in response to an original-detecting signal. SOLUTION: A CPU 39 initializes a scanner, when the CPU 39 discriminates that a strip film adaptor 18 has been loaded to a scanner main body 42 based on a detection signal of an adaptor detection circuit. The CPU 39 discriminates whether or not an output value from a film detection circuit 32 is 800 or below. When it is discriminated as 'YES', it is discriminated that the strip film 19 loaded is a negative film. Then a negative film signal is outputted to a host computer 51. Then the CPU 39 instructs a motor drive circuit 35 so as to drive a roller drive motor 14 by a prescribed amount. The drive roller moves the strip film 19, and the strip film 19 is guided and moved to the image read position.
