Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reproducing and displaying device that can reproduce and display an image with high resolution of a digital television receiver or the like and that is inexpensive and has a small display screen size and a small memory capacity.
SOLUTION: An image decoding reduction rate decision section 107 acquires a size of one screen of image data and a kind of image coding stored in an image data buffer 105 and also acquires the size of an image display section 111 and the size of a reference memory and image display memory 109 from a terminal information storage section 112 for storing attribute information of the image reproducing and displaying device 100. The image decoding reduction rate decision section 107 utilizes the image size displayable in the section 111 and the size of the reference memory and image display memory 109 to decide a decodable reduction rate for the coded image data. An image decoding section 106 reduces and decodes the image according to the reduction rate.
