Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that has an imaging element including a pixel part having two photoelectric conversion parts, and precisely obtains a third image signal to be used for focus adjustment processing on the basis of a first image signal from a first photoelectric conversion part and a second image signal from the first and second photoelectric conversion parts.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus having an imaging element including a pixel part having two photoelectric conversion parts stores an output difference between an output in reading a first image signal out of a first photoelectric conversion part through first readout operation and an output in reading through second readout operation. The imaging apparatus reads the first image signal out of the first photoelectric conversion part in the first readout operation and the second image signal out of the first and second photoelectric conversion parts in the second readout operation, and generates an output signal when the first image signal is read out in the second readout operation on the basis of the first image signal and the output difference. The imaging apparatus generates a signal for focus adjustment processing on the basis of the second image signal and the output signal.
