PURPOSE: To facilitate the construction of OS and to set it to be optimum in a given environment by providing a means for detecting connection to a second electronic unit, a means for retrieving the resource of first and second electronic units and a means for constructing the environment in accordance with the retrieved resource and starting the operating system (OS).
CONSTITUTION: A storage port 600 is provided in front of a dock main body 200, and a notebook PC 100 is inserted into the storage port 600 in a close state. Thus, an interface provided at the back of the notebook PC100 is connected to an interface provided in the dock main body 200. A docking station functions just like the electronic unit of a desk top type. CPU in the notebook PC100 detects the resource of the notebook PC 100 and the resource of the dock main body 200, selects the optimum resource among the detected ones and starts OS.
