To make an apparatus simple in structure, easy to manufacture, long in life and improved in quality by setting an ink chamber having a nozzle and a jet force application part for providing a jet force of Lamb waves so that the ink inside the chamber is jetted through the nozzle.
This ink jet apparatus has a layer structure of a nozzle plate 170, a barrier 111, a transmission plate 120, a ground electrode 130, a Lamb wave generation plate 140 and an IDT electrode 150 sequentially layered. A chamber 180 in which an ink 101 is stored is formed of the nozzle plate 170, the barrier 111 and the transmission plate 120. The nozzle plate 170 has a nozzle 172 through which the ink 101 is jetted. Lamb waves are generated from the Lamb wave generation plate 140 when a voltage is impressed to the IDT electrode 150. The Lamb wave generation plate 140 is formed of a piezoelectric element of ZnO, PZT or the like and the ground electrode 130 is set so as to enhance a generation efficiency for the Lamb waves. The transmission plate 120 is arranged between the Lamb wave generation plate 140 and the chamber 180.
