An image date forming section 62 in a recording signal processing unit is connected to an operation control section 66 to which a detection output signal Sd is supplied. The image data forming section 62, in which image data to be printed on recording paper are subjected to a predetermined signal processing, forms binary-coded data and sends them out as a printing data group DPi corresponding to heaters 52a-52i in a recording head section 10 of a recording unit.
