To equalize an area of each pixel formed on a recording face by the transfer of a recording head to each direction and make the density of printing uniform in a going path and in a returning path by controlling a stricking area per pixel formed by an ink droplet which has arrived at a recording face of a recording medium.
An image date forming section 62 in a recording signal processing unit is connected to an operation control section 66 to which a detection output signal Sd is supplied. The image data forming section 62, in which image data to be printed on recording paper are subjected to a predetermined signal processing, forms binary-coded data and sends them out as a printing data group DPi corresponding to heaters 52a-52i in a recording head section 10 of a recording unit. By this method, the printing data group DPi from the image data forming section 62 is also supplied to the operation control section 66 having a data memory part 66m in which the printing data group DPi is stored for each of lines to be printed on a recording face at a predetermined timing and is read out.
