To provide an ink jet recording method which enables a record of a high definition image on a medium lacking in ink absorbency by a photocuring type ink without increasing the number of nozzles of a recording head and hastening the delivery timing by a recording head drastically and to provide an ink jet ink suitable for the ink jet recording method.
The ink jet recording method employs the ink jet ink comprising at least: a coloring material; water; a polymer compound which has a plurality of side chains in a hydrophilic main chain and enables the cross-linking bond between side chains by irradiating them with an active energy beam, wherein at least one between the ink delivery timing by the recording head and the conveyance speed in the sub-scanning direction of the recording medium by a recording medium transfer mechanism is controlled so that the number of the ink dot per unit length of the sub-scanning direction and main scan direction on the recording medium reaches a predetermined relation amount.
