PURPOSE: To simultaneously insert an article and a paper flap at a fast speed from the upper side of a case body by a device with a simple structure.

CONSTITUTION: This insertion device is provided with the head 2 for a clamp which is transferable to an arbitrary direction with a robot hand 6. The head for the clamp is provided with a holding means 11 of articles and a suction means 48 (sucker) for paper flaps. The holding means of articles having four pressing blades opened or closed by the actuation of a cylinder, holds the article from the four sides to clamp it. The suction means of paper flaps can move up and down relatively against the holding means of articles by a cylinder for paper flaps. Both means 11, 48 hold as a unit articles which are transferred to a holding station of articles and then the suction means sucks paper flaps which are transferred to a suction station 56 of paper flaps. Thereafter, both means are transferred to a boxing station 58 and the holding means of articles is lowered and the suction means of paper flaps is relatively moved up after release of a paper flap.
