INTER-PROCESS MESSAGE COMMUNICATION METHOD

PURPOSE: To reduce the overhead of a message communication process while maintaining high reliability by making a communication of messages of optional length among optional processes on a computer system and controlling a conflict of access to messages.
CONSTITUTION: A process 50 obtains a pointer 100 to a message buffer 64. At this point of time, an (i)th entry in a message buffer management table 79 which corresponds to a message buffer 64 is set to an in-use 1 state and a process identifier P which is being acquired is recorded. A message is written in data in the message buffer 64, a data indication part is set to a head address 5 and size S3 to specify the identifier Q of a process 51, and a message transmission request is issued. Then a message control structure 81 having the pointer of the message buffer 64 is queued in process control structure 54 and a register 80 is changed from P to Q. The process 51 obtains the pointer to the message buffer 64 from the structure 81.
