To provide an inverter power unit which can minimize output voltage distortion even when a nonlinear load is connected.
An effective value computer 11 calculates the effective value of output voltage. A subtractor 12 calculates the difference between an output voltage amplitude command value and the effective value. A PID controller 13 performs PID operation for the output of the subtractor 12. An AC command generator 5 converts the output of the PID controller 13 into an AC command value. A subtractor 17 calculates the difference between the current of a reactor 3b and the preset peak limit value. The PID controller 18 performs PID operation for the output of the subtractor 17. The subtractor 16 subtracts the output of the PID controller 18 from the AC command. A subtractor 24 obtains a current flowing in the capacitor 3c. A variation calculator 22 calculates the variation of the capacitor current. A subtractor 21 subtracts the above variation from the output of the subtractor 16. A PWM modulation processor 6 controls the switching element of a power converter 2, based on the output of the subtractor 21.
