To improve ironing performance by disposing a steam stopper between an ironing board cover and a cushion.
An ironing board plate 2 is formed to a cross-sectionally square shaped tubular frame 3 and is so placed as to enclose an expanded metal 4. A cushion plate 5 consisting of a foamed material, and the like, is placed on the expanded metal 4 and the surface thereof is covered with a steam stopping or steam shielding member 6. The ironing board cover 7 is placed above the steam stopping or steam shielding member 6. The steam or hot air at the time of ironing by an iron 8 is completely or mostly bounced back by this steam stopping or steam shielding member 6. The hot air and/or steam cushion 10 is formed between the steam stopping or steam shielding member 6 and the ironing board cover 7. Then the ironing performance may be improved.
