Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: A compound of formula I (R1 is a straight or branched 2-20C fatty acid residue).
USE: Anthelmintic useful as vermifuge, insecticide or acaricide in humans and animals for reasons of sanitation. Also, the compound exhibits similar anthelmintic activity in the field of agriculture.
PROCESS: A macrocyclic alcohol of formula II (R1 is H or formula III; R2 is CH3 or CH2CH3; R3 is OH or OCH3; (a) and (b) are each a single bond or a double bond) is incubated at pH 6.0-6.5 together with a 2-20C fatty acid of the formula R1-COOH in the presence of a bile acid and an enzyme (preferably cholesterol esterase), thereby to give the compound of formula I.
