Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DFB laser device in which high reflectance of a Bragg grating and efficient coupling between active guide and passive guide are compatible.SOLUTION: A laser device 1 of group 3-5 heterostructure arranged in silicon and/or on silicon includes a gain medium 3 of group 3-5 heterostructure, and an optical rib waveguide 11 arranged oppositely thereto, in silicon having a slab waveguide provided with a longitudinal rib. On the optical rib waveguide 11, at least one Bragg grating 19 is arranged on a side face 21 in the slab waveguide close to the gain medium 3, and a rib is arranged on a side face in the slab waveguide remote from the gain medium 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
