Abstract:

PURPOSE: To intercept a laser beam by detecting troubles of the disconnection of an optical fiber, etc., in a laser beam machine which transmits a power laser beam through optical fiber, cuts and welds a metal.
CONSTITUTION: In a system of intercept a laser beam by detecting visible rays of the combustion of covering at a breaking part of an optical fiber, visible ray selecting and reflecting filter 15 which transmit the laserbeam, and the visible rays is reflected is installed between the light emitting tip end of optical fiber and an object to be machined. The visible ray selecting and reflecting filter 15 is composed by alternately vapor-depositing a highly refractive index body and a lowly refractive index body. An enameled covering stranded wire is wound on the optical fiber 6 in a spiral like, a voltage is impressed between the stranded wires, the disconnection is detected by the change of the insulation resistance, based on the signal, the laser beam is intercepted. Further, the total optical fiber is covered with an insulation plate inserting metal foil, the voltage is impressed between the metal foils, and the disconnection is detected by the change of the insulation resistance.
