To provide a book management system for a library, allowing sure book lending and returning work and rationalizing the managing operation of the library.

The automatic book lending management system comprises a reader/writer for reading/writing non-contact ID cards for recording usage histories of lending and returning services and the histories, a reader for reading RF-ID book classifying labels attached to the covers of books and their data in non-contact, a get-in and -out gate device for preventing the books from being brought out without permission. When users pass through the get-in and -out gate device while holding the books, the readers read the registered numbers of the RF-ID book classifying labels of the books and the usage histories of the non-contact ID cards of the users, inspect the lending histories and renew the lending histories of the non-contact ID cards, and lending treatment processes are displayed on a monitor device and the lending histories in a memory of the lending management system are renewed.
