To provide a lifting gear with a protecting fence locking device safely usable for a long time under severe natural circumstances.
A lift 3 lifts along a guide rail 2 with a person getting thereon and stops at an upward stop position corresponding to a scaffold 4. To prevent the fall-down of the person from the opening of the scaffold 4 when the lift 3 is not at the stop position, a protecting fence 5 with a door 6 is provided. The protecting fence 5 is provided with the locking device 7 for locking the door 6 when the lift 3 is not at the stop position. The locking device 7 has a lever 10 and a locking member 11. Th lever 10 is pushed up and turned by the lift 3 lifting up to the stop position for pulling the locking member 11 up to an unlocking position to allow the opening of the door 6. When the lift 3 is at a downward position, the locking member 11 is at a locking position for preventing the opening operation of the door 6. Therefore, the door 6 of the protecting fence 5 cannot be opened unless the lift 3 comes to the stop position.
