PURPOSE: To provide the light control element having repetitive responsiveness and good ray transmittance, voltage sensitivity, heat resistance and adhesion property to transparent electrodes on both front and rear surfaces by using a high polymer obtd. by copolymerizing specific acrylate compds as a light control material for controlling the transmission and scattering of light by the presence or absence of the impression of an electric field.
CONSTITUTION: A high polymer obtd. by copolymerizing the acrylate compd. expressed by formula I and the acrylate compd. expressed by formula II is used as the high polymer of the light control material which contains a liquid crystal and the high polymer and controls the scattering state of light by the presence or absence of the impression of an electric field. In the formula I, R1 denotes a hydrogen atom or methyl group; R2 denotes 2 or 3C straight chain or branch chain alkylene group; m denotes an integer from 1 to 10. In the formula II, R3 denotes a hydrogen atom or methyl group; R4 denotes an alkyl group or cyloalkyl group (replacable with 1 to 18C cycloalkyl group).
