To provide a light emitting diode which has, specially, high reliability and small change over aging as a light emitting diode used as a light source for various indicators, LED displays, back lights, etc.
The light emitting diode has a light emitting element 102 which is electrically connected to at least one couple of lead electrodes 105 and 106 and a light transmissive resin 101 which covers the light emitting element 102. Specially, a light emission layer of the light emitting element 101 has its main light emission peak in a range of near-ultraviolet light below 550 nm to visible light. The light transmissive resin 101 covering the light emitting element 102, on the other hand, is an epoxy resin composition containing of <10% phenol derivative epoxy resin.
