Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light guide consisting of a resin optical fiber which is suppressed in deterioration by the heat of a light source and has excellent durability by hermetically coating the end face on the light source side of an optical fiber with a window material consisting of glass or quartz.
SOLUTION: The end face on the light source side of the optical fiber 1 consisting of resin is hermetically coated with the window material 2 consisting of glass or quartz. Since the light guide is formed by hermetically coating the end face on the light source side of the optical fiber 1 consisting of resin with the window material 2 consisting of glass or quartz, thereby, the direct contact of the fiber end face and the outdoor air is averted, the deterioration of the resin of the fiber end face by the reaction with oxygen in the outdoor air is prevented. The window material 2 used for the light guide consists of glass or quartz and is held by a window material holder 3, etc. The shape of the window material 2 may be a flat plate or may be a lens shape. The optical fiber 1 consisting of the window material holder 3 and the resin is hermetically fixed with a sealant 4.
