PURPOSE: To obtain a lighweight blade with high elastic modulus by manufacturing the blade by using an alloy made in to a thin belt made of Be or principally of Be by a fusion-body super-quenching method or a composite material which contains them as its matrix.
CONSTITUTION: Be 2 in a quartz pipe 1 is fused by a high-frequency heating coil 3, discharged to a roll 4 for quenching from a rectangular slit provided below the quartz pipe 1, and quenched and solidified. Further, the material is rolled lightly by a roll 5 for flattening provided opposite the quenching roll 4 into a thin belt which is superior in thickness precision and flatness. At this time, a thin belt having a projection/recess step is obtained by forming grooves 4a in the roll 4. Such a super-quenching method is used to manufacture continu ously the alloy made of Be or principally of Be or composite material having them as its matrix, thereby obtaining the lighweight blade high in strength.
