To provide a lighter composed of a quadrangular prism-shaped external case opened at its upper end side, an internal unit fitted into the external case, and a cover body for opening and closing the external case to which the internal unit is fitted, from a top side, and capable of preventing the internal unit from floating up the external case by its upward movement even when the opening and closing motion of the cover body is repeated.
The external case has a bottom plate at its lower end side. A spring supporting tool mounted on a lower end of a cylindrical ignition stone receiving pipe fixed to an upper inner side of the internal unit at its upper end, and extending toward a downward direction in the internal unit, and supporting a lower section of a stone pressing spring received in the ignition stone receiving pipe and comprising an ignition stone at its upper section, at its upper end side, is charged from the external of the bottom plate toward the inside of the external case through an insertion hole formed on the bottom plate, and mounted on a lower end of the ignition stone receiving pipe in a state that the upward movement is restricted by the bottom plate of the external case.
