PURPOSE: To provide the image pickup lighting device in which lighting operation quality is improved through the compensation of fluctuation of the illuminance due to an external light and the operating efficiency is considerably improved.

CONSTITUTION: A light from a lamp built in a light source device 11 is emitted to a work 3 via an optical fiber 12 and a ring shaped optical fiber 13. An illuminance sensor 14 is arranged around an image pickup position 4 of the work 3 and an illuminance signal corresponding to the detected illuminance is inputted to the light source device 11, and a drive voltage to the lamp is adjusted so that the illuminance onto the work 3 is made constant by a switching power supply circuit built in the light source device 11. When the drive voltage exceeds a predetermined reference voltage, it is judged that a broken filament of the lamp takes place soon, and a buzzer 15 and a replacement period notice lamp 16 arranged on the light source device 11 are driven to inform it externally that the lamp replacement period comes.
