Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to perform high dynamic range processing on a high-resolution video signal without entailing an increase of a circuit scale, a reduction of a processing speed, a degradation of image quality, and the like.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display (100) comprises: an HDR data acquisition processing unit (7') acquiring luminance data of an input video signal and controlling a luminance of a light source illuminating a display part; and a signal processing unit (9) that includes a downscaling unit downscaling the input video signal, and a high dynamic range video processing unit performing processing for lowering a video signal luminance gradation of a non-light-emitting part except for a light-emitting part. The HDR data acquisition unit (7') acquires the luminance data on a video signal necessary for the high dynamic range processing on the basis of the video signal output from the downscaling unit. The signal processing unit (9) performs the processing on the input video signal for lowering the luminance gradation of the non-light-emitting part on the basis of the acquired luminance data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
