Abstract:

To provide a liquid crystal material not affected by polarized wave and achieving sufficient extinction ratio even in the communication wavelength band, optical parts and a display, and a method for producing a liquid crystal material.

Photopolymerization of a mixture is performed by irradiating the mixture with ultraviolet rays, wherein the mixture is obtained when a mother liquid crystal 3 that is a nematic liquid crystal, a photopolymerizable monomer that randomly orients the mother liquid crystal 3, a photopolymerization initiator that accelerates photopolymerization of the photopolymerizable monomer, and a dichroic dye 4 that enhances scattering or absorption or both scattering and absorption of light with a specific wavelength are mixed and stirred.
