To realize a stable discharging of a recording head while enabling it to stably feed a liquid to the recording head also during a recording operation.
A liquid feeder is equipped with a main tank for storing a liquid, a sub-tank which is arranged at the upper side of the vertical direction of the recording head for discharging the liquid and composed of the member which does not communicate with an atmospheric air and whose volume is changed according to the amount of the liquid, the first channel for making the main tank communicate with the sub-tank, the second channel for making the sub-tank communicate with the recording head, a flow detection means for detecting the flow of the second channel, the first pressure control means for controlling the inner pressure of the main tank according to the flow detected by the flow detection means and the second pressure control means for controlling the inner pressure of the sub-tank within a predetermined range.
