Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively destrong foam formed on a liquid surface of a stored liquid by providing a foam suction device having a suction opening opened on the liquid surface in a tank for sucking foam generated on the liquid surface of a tank due to rotation of an impeller.
SOLUTION: A liquid in a coolant storage tank for machining such as grinding has a tendency of spilling out of the tank due to foaming of the liquid. In a foam suction device attached on the tank, air is sucked through a suction opening 5 by rotation of an impeller 9 by an electric motor 4 and is discharged through an outlet opening 11. When foam 12 produced on a liquid surface arrives at a vicinity of the suction opening 5, the foam together with air is sucked from the opening 5 and the sucked foam is guided into a casing 3 via a cylinder part 6 and an inlet 10 and is made to collide with the impeller 9 so that part of the foam is destroyed and becomes extinct. Remainder of the foam is made to collide with an inner circumferential wall of a main body part 3A due to centrifugal action by the impeller 9. Drops of the coolant liquid produced by extinction of the foam is discharged together with air through the outlet opening 11 and returned into the tank.
