To provide a lithographic printing plate original plate having high sensitivity, high productivity of a printing plate and good developability even in development with a mild aqueous solution (pH: 2-10) and capable of providing a lithographic printing plate excellent in printing durability, and a method for producing the lithographic printing plate.

The lithographic printing plate original plate has on a support a photosensitive layer containing a polymerizable compound having a specific partial structure and a binder polymer having an acid value of 0.3 meq/g. The method for producing the lithographic printing plate comprises imagewise exposing the lithographic printing plate original plate with a laser beam of 360-450 nm, and rubbing the surface of the exposed lithographic printing plate original plate with a rubbing member in the presence of a developer having pH of 2-10 in an automatic processor equipped with the rubbing member to remove the unexposed area of the photosensitive layer.
