To detect a load with a simple constitution by detecting attenuation of ultrasonic vibration propagated to an ultrasonic conductor when the load is applied directly or indirectly to the conductor applied with ultrasonic wave, and calculating the load by the object.
The load detector comprises an ultrasonic applying means 10 connected to one end of at least one ultrasonic conductor 7 to apply ultrasonic vibration to the conductor 7, an ultrasonic wave detecting means 11 for detecting the vibration of the conductor 7, and a calculating means for calculating load to be applied to the conductor 7 based on an output of the means 11. When load is applied directly or indirectly to the conductor 7 applied with ultrasonic wave by an object, attenuation of the vibration propagated to the conductor 1 is detected, and the load by the object is calculated, and hence the load can be detected with a simple constitution.
