Abstract:

To provide a load driving device and the like wherein it is possible to detect a power electrical connection failure in an inverter device without use of an open detection sensor or the like.

The inverter device 1 includes a drive circuit that controls multiple switching elements connected to the individual phases of a three-phase alternating-current motor 4 and supplies phase currents to the phases of the motor 4, a current sensor that detects the phase current supplied to each phase of the motor 4, a rotor position detector 4a that detects the rotor position of the motor 4, and an inverter controller 11 that computes the command values of d-axis current and q-axis current supplied to the motor 4 based on the rotor position and supplies the phase currents to the individual phases of the motor 4 through the drive circuit. Phase currents in which the d-axis current is optional and the q-axis current is 0[A] are supplied to the three-phase alternating-current motor 4 based on the rotor position of the motor 4. Any connection failure in a power electrical connection is detected based on a change in phase current detected by the current sensor.
