Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an SIMM socket having structure of low height from a main substrate surface to be fixed, capable of applying to an SIMM module having a wide range of thickness. CONSTITUTION: An SIMM socket consists of an insulating housing 12 having many contact accepting cavities in the long direction and a contact 14 which is inserted into each cavity 22. A central rib 112 and a holding bar 118 are formed in the cavity of the insulating housing 12. Each contact 14 has a base part 42 almost parallel to a main substrate 124, a cantilever-shaped first elastic arm 60 extending at an acute angle from the one end of the base part 42, and an almost G-shaped second elastic arm 62 extending from the same end. The first elastic arm 60 is engaged with the holding bar 118, the second elastic bar 62 is engaged with the central rib 112, to be previously bent, and good normal force is applied to the contact surface of the SIMM to be inserted.
