To obtain a lowly odorous and economically profitable solid fuel which leaves little ash when burnt by subjecting refuse based on combustible wastes to crushing, drying and classification, mixing the product with an active carbon powder and molding the mixture.
In a process for producing a solid fuel, comprising subjecting refuse produced from kitchens, restaurants, offices, factories, etc., and based on combustible wastes to crushing, drying and classification molding the product, 0.3-15wt.%, based on the classified combustible wastes, active carbon having a mean particle diameter of 10-30μm is added to the classified combustible wastes during the period from the classification to the end of the molding to remove the odor from the wastes by adsorption by the carbon. Thus, a lowly odorous solid fuel can be obtained from refuse based on combustible wastes. The active carbon added is very effective to remove odorants having relatively high boiling points and high molecular weights.
