PURPOSE: To control a lubricating oil liquid level with a small and lightweight device by providing a temp. sensor disposed in a lubricating oil applying device with both of a function as a temp. sensor and a function to monitor the lubricating oil liquid level.
CONSTITUTION: The high-temp. lubricating oil 6 is put into a lubricating oil tank 1 up to the prescribed position of a lower coating applying roll 2. The front end of the temp. sensor 3 is exactly fixed at the prescribed position of the lubricating oil 6. The liquid level of the lubricating oil 6 falls below the prescribed position when the operation to apply the lubricating oil 6 onto the outer periphery of a filamentary body continues. The front end of the temp. sensor 3 does not come into contact with the high-temp. lubricating oil any more and the temp. fall is rapidly detected. The detection signal is then inputted to a lubricating oil supply controller which in turn commands a lubricating oil supply pump 4 to make up the lubricating oil 6.
