Title:
MAGNETIC POWDER OF IRON NITRIDE, ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2006222357
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a magnetic powder whose size of particle is small, and which has a significantly high coercive force, in addition, has the most suitable saturation magnetization for a high density recording, and is excellent in a storage stability.

The magnetic powder of iron nitride is composed with iron and nitrogen as at least a composition element; contains at least one element among rare earth metal element, aluminum, and silicon; and contains at least a phase of Fe16N2. Its content of nitrogen to iron is 1.0 to 20.0 atom%, and the particle is 5 to 20 nm in a mean size and is particle or oval shaped. In its manufacturing method, after the phase of Fe16N2 is developed, an inorganic compound which contains at least one element among a rare earth metal element, aluminum, and silicon and/or an organic compound which is an esterified or amidated acid among an organic carboxylic acid, an organic sulfonic acid, and an organic phosphoric acid, is deposited on the surface of the particle.
