Abstract:
To provide manganese dioxide being used as a positive electrode active material for an alkaline manganese dry cell and being excellent in high rate performance.
Manganese dioxide having zinc hydroxide, especially having zinc hydroxide in an ion-exchanging site of manganese dioxide and especially having zinc hydroxide in the ion-exchanging site at the pore inside of a manganese dioxide particle is used. It is favorable that the content of zinc hydroxide is 0.01 wt.% or more and 0.10 wt.% or less in terms of zinc. Manganese dioxide containing zinc hydroxide in the ion-exchanging site is produced by ion-exchanging manganese dioxide with a zinc ion-containing aqueous solution and by reacting with an alkali hydroxide after washing.
