Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a device for automatically manipulating an elastic cylindrical material for the use for packing, etc., for improving the degree of the use of filler so as to lighten the manual work which is hygienically undesirable or make such work unnecessary.
CONSTITUTION: By a manipulating device 1 two pieces of an elastic cylindrical material A1, A2, each having a slit which extends to the full length and severs the material from the outer circumference through to the inner surface, are mated with each other in a pair through the slits. This manipulating device 1 comprises a conveyor 10 which feeds two pieces of the elastic cylindrical material A1, A2, oriented in specific directions, to specific positions and two sets of manipulators 20, 30 each of which has at the forward end a pair of movable pins 21, 31 designed to be inserted into the thus fed cylindrical piece Al or A2 from one end and spread or folded and both of which are capable of bringing their respective forward ends close to each other.
