Abstract:
PURPOSE: To eliminate the influence of the change of quantity of melted metal to the mutual pressure of welding rolls by enabling a holder which supports a welding roll in a freely turning state to rock along an arcuate orbit against an opposing welding roll.
CONSTITUTION: A tube-shaped metallic plate 2 is heated by a heating coil 3 and the heated plate is extruded from both sides by a couple of welding rolls 1a and 1b and welded at its joining part to be an electro-resistance-welded tube. Since the holder 13 which supports the welding roll 1a is supported by a bearing 14 in a freely turning state and pressed by springs 4 and 5 to the side of the welding roll 1b, the welding rolls 1a and 1b are given mutual pressure even when the quantity of melted metal at the welded part of the tube- shaped metallic plate 2 is rapidly chaned.
