PURPOSE: To make it possible to manufacture easily an arbitrarily shaped FRP pipe having high strength and light weight, by coating a FRP layer with a jacket having bleeder holes and at the same time expanding a core material to press the FRP layer, squeezing the surplus resin and gas, shrinking the core material after the FRP is hardened and releasing it from the mold.
CONSTITUTION: U-shaped bending recesses 6 and 6' are each formed on both opposite sides of a shape retaining mold 5, and an uncured FRP coated with a jacket 4 is set in the recess 6 of the lower mold. Discharge routes 7 consisting of narrow grooves and holes penetrating to the outside are formed in the inner face of those recesses 6 and 6'. Both upper and lower molds are fixed, a coupler 8 is attached on both ends of an urethane hose, and hot water is circulated in the urethane hose. Accordingly, the urethane hose is expanded, surplus air bubbles and resin are squeezed out of the FRP layer through the bleed holes of the jacket and the discharge routes of the shape retaining mold, and at the same time the FRP layer is heated. After about four hours, the mold is released and the urethane hose is drawn out, while the jacket is separated. Finally, the urethane hose is put into a curing oven and processed by hardening at about 130°C for two hours.
