PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufacturing an appropriate provisional prosthesis while reducing as much of operational burden resulting from the inability to do removal because of undercuts as possible.
CONSTITUTION: This method for manufacturing a provisional prosthesis using a resin which has a setting function based on chemical polymerization and that based on photopolymerization comprises blending mixed liquids, obtained by the blending of a chemical polymerization catalyst and a photopolymerization catalyst in a polymerizable monomer, with powders obtained by the blending of a chemical polymerization catalyst and a photopolymerization catalyst in filler powders, to produce a paste, and either packing the paste into a cavity formed by the excision of an infected dentine or forming a plastic polymer by the first step of setting through chemical polymerization reaction while pressing it into contact with an abutment formed after the treatment of the dentine; then taking out the polymer, correcting its configuration, and imparting sufficient mechanical strength to the polymer by the second step of setting through photopolymerization.
