PURPOSE: To enhance the assembling efficiency by arranging an electrode plates group bearing member in a battery jar, wherein the bearing member is shallower than the depth of the battery jar, inserting rows of electrode plates, forming a junction with a strap, and cutting the joint of the electrode plates group bearing member through pressing of the electrode plates group, and thereby providing possibility of stopping surely the rows of electrode plates in the middle of the battery jar.

CONSTITUTION: An electrode plates group bearing member 1 has in the over part a joint 2 in contact with the upper edge 8 of a battery jar 4, wherein the depth from the joint 2 to the bottom wall 3 is formed shallower than the depth of the battery jar 4. The electrode plates bearing member 1 is inserted in the battery jar 4, and rows 5 of electrode plates are intruded by a pressing plate 6 till reaching the bottom wall 3 of the electrode plates bearing member 1, and now the standstill is obtained in the condition that the top of the rows 5 of electrode plates protrudes at the top of the battery jar 4. A comb-shaped jig is fitted in the upper part of the rows 5 of electrode plates, and molten lead is put in contact while the tab of electrode plate is melted. A strap and a connection terminal are formed, and electrode plate groups are intruded by the pressing plate 6 into the battery jar 4, and the joint 2 of the electrode plates bearing member 1 is cut. This enables stopping the rows 5 of electrode plates certainly in the middle of the battery jar 4.
